![]() Hope this saves someone from pulling their hair out somewhere down the line trying to figure out why playtesting won't work and the RGSS solutions aren't cutting it. Beyond that, game.exe and playtesting stop working. After some troubleshooting, it would appear that the maximum length of file path is 126 characters long. The length of the file path: My main game's file path is 112 characters long. V21.1 doesn't have the accent though, which brings me to. The accent over the e caused problems for some users. Older versions of essentials had "Pokémon" in the game title rather than "Pokemon". Special Characters in the Game Name: this was not a google result, but popped up in the comments of an RGSS result. Similar to the RGSS issue, my main game and tester games were in the same location, so this couldn't be it. If game files are saved there, RPGXP may not be able to access them fully, and so playtesting doesn't work. Restricted File Paths (the next most common google result): Apparently there are some locations that windows restricts. My main game worked, it was my tester game that didn't, both using the same system and RGSS files. Either replace with a current one or modify some system settings. RGSS Issues (the main google result): Sometimes there are issues with the RGSS file. Googling the issue didn't help me, but I figured it out and thought I'd pass on the info for future googlers: So I recently had an issue where I just could not get the playtest to work on a brand new, clean version of Essentials 21.1. ![]()
